We follow a weekly theme in our lesson plans at Slate Hill Daycare and Pre-school. Each week will feature a letter and a number. The repetition and practice allows children to learn and focus each week and leads towards reading readiness.
Artwork is encouraged and each student’s finished project is displayed on the walls of our school. The projects incorporate the weekly theme and support learning. Cooking is also an activity that supports classroom initiatives. Every week the students prepare a snack that supports the weekly theme such as butter for “B” and making pizza for the letter "P".
Science and math are incorporated into daily activities such as discussing the weather and the differences between hot and cold or counting the number of building blocks needed to make a tower.
Your child’s time is carefully structured to allow for academics, socialization, and fun. Our students are prepared for a successful entry into kindergarten.
